Coco is a sweet 6-8 year old poodle mix that wound up in the local county shelter when she was surrendered by her owners because they could no longer take care of her.  While in the shelter, Coco lost one eye due to severe pain. Coco came to our rescue with bad skin, very matted fur, lots of fleas and her remaining eye in jeopardy with an uncertain outcome.  After speaking with an ophthalmologist, the specialist recommended surgery to correct her other eye so it did not have to be removed.  The prognosis was optimistic, so our rescue paid almost $2,000 for the surgery.  We were able to save the eye but unfortunately, Coco lost her sight anyway and is now completely blind. She is very sweet but can get scared when she is approached too quickly, as she is still adjusting to losing her sight. Coco weighs approximately 15 lbs, and would do best in an adult only home with someone who is looking for a best friend and a snuggle buddy.  She is house trained, up to date on all shots, and is heartworm negative.  She will need drops for her one eye for the rest of her life, so will need someone who is able to provide that for her.  She loves to go for walks and is a very happy social little girl when meeting new people and other animals.  She is both big and small dog tested as well as cat tested.  If you are interested in adopting Coco please fill out an application at www.4luckydogs.org
