Max is a 3.5-year-old 10-pound Chihuahua Pomeranian mix. His tail wags eagerly wanting to be part of any action going on in the house. He loves to be around his people, so he is looking for a home where someone will be around most of the time. He gets so excited when he sees a person and jumps up and down with his tail saying “I am happy and want attention.” He loves snuggling and hanging out with his humans Playing with toys is something Max enjoys doing carrying them around or throwing them in the air. He will start playing with one toy for a few minutes then picks another toy then onto another toy. He even likes tug-of-war! Max is crate trained but prefers to hang out on sofas with tons of blankets surrounding him. He also likes to be scratched behind his ears or on his butt and shows you by his movements how much he enjoys it. 4 Lucky Dogs is recommending that Max live in a single-family house with a fenced-in yard. Because he can be vocal it means a townhouse, condo, or apartment would not be a good fit. He may not ask on his own to go out, so the adopter needs to be willing to take him out on a regular basis. He was trained by his previous owner to go to the bathroom on a pee pad. The foster family has been working on praising Max for going potties outside so he learns that is what a dog should do. If let out frequently he will hold his pee/poop. But if because of timing Max is not able to hold his pee/poop he will appropriately use the pee pad. The adopter needs to know that this training of going outside will need to be continued until Max is fully trained to not use the pee pad anymore. He came into 4 Lucky Dogs Rescue because his owners could not care for him any longer. They said he knows words such as stay, sit, no, go, and spin. Max has always lived as an only dog. The foster family has found out he does not like cats or bigger dogs, so we would like him to continue to be the only dog in the home. Max will require a quieter home to help him be his best and like some smaller dogs, he comes with some quirks. He is not recommended for a home with children. Max needs a patient family to give him the second chance he deserves. Max’s adoption fee is $400. This dog comes microchipped, neutered, up to date on all necessary vaccines/rabies shots, is heartworm tested, and dewormed. He is currently being fostered in the Valrico/Riverview area.
