Ginger is 12 years young and is a gentle and elegant lady.  Picked up as a stray, she had been attacked by another animal and had a 3-inch gaping wound on her chest, a 2-inch wound on her leg and a single puncture wound on the top of her head.  Upon arriving at the shelter, it was found that she had a microchip that had originally been implanted in California.  The current owner who lives in central FL, was contacted and informed that Ginger would heal fine and her wounds were stitched up, and she was waiting at the shelter.  However, her owner chose not to come get Ginger.  4 Lucky Dogs could not bear to see this sweet girl in the shelter and upon pulling her into rescue, contacted the microchip company two more times to ensure the owner was given every opportunity to get Ginger.  A person at an alternate number that the microchip company had listed revealed that the owner had been reached "but the owner was living a good life now".  We don't know what that means, but we know that Ginger deserves the best in life as well.  Ginger is in foster care with 5 other dogs and is fine with all dogs she meets.  She is completely house-trained, and does not need a crate.  Although she was looking for her owner for a while, she is learning to be happy on her own again.  Thanks to a generous donor, Ginger recently had a dental cleaning and one tooth extraction.  She has been declared to be in very good shape for her age and smiles and yips a few times in excitement upon getting up every morning.  Ginger loves to go on walks and loves car rides, and absolutely LOVES children.  At this stage in her life, Ginger is looking for a home where someone is home most of the time, as she loves to be around people.  She loves her comfy beds and loves her food, and at 30lbs, is just a perfect girl. Ginger is spayed, microchipped and current on vaccinations. She is being fostered in the Tampa area and her adoption fee is $75.
