Sonny has done his job. He took care of the only Momma he has ever known until she recently passed. From the time he was a small puppy, he was by her side, accompanying her wherever she would go. He took walks with her, went to the dog park with her, watched tv with her and protected her. Now it is Sonny's turn. Sonny needs a great home with someone who will now take care of him. But he still needs and wants to do his job with his new Master! Sonny is a young at heart 8-year old Tri-color, border collie who will be extremely loyal to his person. Unfortunately his previous Momma gave him too many snacks the last 2 years and he didn't get as much exercise as he should have, so he crept up to 83+lbs before he went to the vet and got on a diet. He has already lost some weight, down to 71lbs, and will lose more once he starts becoming active again. His bloodwork from October shows that he is a healthy boy.  Sonny's ideal home would be with an active person or couple whom he could look after as well. Although Sonny gets along with other dogs, he grew up as the sole dog in the household so it would be less stressful on him to return to the same type of environment. Sonny gets excited to go in the car and rides well once underway. He does like to chase the occasional squirrel, so recommend no cats. He has never been around small children, but since he is a natural herder, we recommend only older, considerate children. He has consistently been on heartworm and flea and tick preventative, and is HW negative.  If you can give this loyal boy the type of active home and love that he needs, please fill out an application for him at www.4luckydogs.org.  A small rehoming fee of $100 applies.
