Annie is a
10-year-old
dog but does not act like her age. She is full of energy and can run fas
t
!
You can catch her by saying “Annie Down”. She will immediately stop wherever she is and lay down for you to pick her up.
Then w
henever Annie is in your
arms,
she is extremely comfortable. She may put her paws around your neck
as a
hug or
lean backward as i
f to say I am relaxed
then just
look
s
around
very content
.
This dog
is an owner-surrender due to medical conditions of her previous owner. This dog has always had another dog in her life either at her previous home or
at
her foster home. Annie is submissive wanting to follow the other dog around doing whatever he/she does like
lay
in a certain position or
cuddle next to him/her
.
It would be extremely helpful if Annie was adopted into a home with another dog that would guide her on how to do “dog things” at that home.
For example
,
at the foster home she learned from the other dog to run to the garage door
when she hears it opening to join giving the family member a big greeting.
Annie
is very eager to please. She will look for you with the question “is this what I am supposed to be doing?”. She is happy when the answer is yes
, for example
she
went to the bathroom so you can leave for work on time
!
Annie tends to stare at humans with a curiosity of what they are doing and if what she is doing is correct.
A surprise
the foster
discovered when walking Annie is that she likes to stare at the
person
during the walk
versus looking ahead and smelling.
It all goes back to her desire to please and her need to follow someone/something versus deciding on her own.
The foster
noticed she wags her tail a lot whenever she receives confirmation that she did please you.
Annie is so happy,
that
in turn it makes you smile.
We were told by the former owner that Annie tends to be nervous and has been like that all her life. The owner said it is in Annie’s genes to be
a
nervous type
of dog because her father had
the same reactions
. This means that sometimes when you go to pet Annie she
instead
runs away
.
But after a
few seconds
Annie comes
back
wanting to be friendly with the person
that reached his/her hand down to her. It is
just the
first action of a person that
makes her skittish
(even as simple as wanting to
touch
her) but once the petting can take place Annie is extremely friendly
enjoying
the attention and wanting you to pet and pet an
d
pet
especially her favorite spot
.
A person
will
see
Annie responds
in
a certain
reactive
way to begin
with
then comes back immediately wanting to
be right next to
him/her
or willing to be picked up.
Annie gets very excited when she sees her harness and leash. To her it means going out and dedicated time with you. She is fine to be walked for all her bathroom needs.
Annie listens well, but she is an explorer, so if not on a leash she needs to be contained within a fence.
If the adopter is planning on a yard,
we recommend that the
she/he
have
well-built fence low to the ground since Annie is
small,
she can squeeze through open areas.
At her foster home she is allowed on the sofas which has become her favorite place to lay. She especially loves being on top of pillows because she can curl up
to fit
on
them
. Annie is just as calm
laying
in her dog bed
– she
just
likes knowing
she has a
n area
to call her o
wn.
Her main goal is to keep an eye on the people she loves.
Annie is really a great dog and any
person or
family would be lucky to
adopt
her. She loves kids but would need to be with older kids that will understand Annie’s personality.
Annie would also be very content with an older couple who want to give her the reassurance
of constant affection in
permanent home.
Annie is quick to love and
is
happy to be in
a
lap or
snuggle
next to
the person who she feels loves her
.
Please consider giving Annie the secure feeling of a forever home. In return she will
look at
her new owner(s)
with the most loving eyes thankful they saw she still has a lot of life to live and a lot of affection to give. Annie’s adoption fee is $100 and she comes with all of her shots, spayed and microchipped.
