Janet is a very lovable 2-year-old dachshund/beagle/whippet mix. She is a very happy dog and walks around the house wagging her tail as if that is the normal thing to do. When she gives a greeting her whole body moves in excitement. She likes to come up to people, get on her hind legs, and receive a “petting” then does that repeatedly. If she can find a space, she loves getting on her back and wiggling or rolling over. But what Janet loves the most if giving kisses. She wants you to know she loves you! Janet is the type of dog who needs a human who is around a lot. She is very dependent on someone to be able to hang out with, or cuddle next to, or to follow around. Someone looking for a buddy companion to keep him/her company at home will be happy adopting Janet, and she will be pleased living in a place where she gets a lot of attention. She loves so easily and begs to be loved back. A typical day at her foster home is resting in a chair next to the family member, on a lap of someone at a computer, or laying on a couch near a person working. This is what she wants to do! If the foster family member gets up, Janet either waits in the chair for her to return or follows her to wherever she is going in the house. Sometimes Janet will get on a chair on her own waiting and staring at someone to come join her. Janet will take a toy out of the toy box and play with it a bit, but her attention span is short if something else is going on in the house. She does like chewing on a bone or carrying around a stuffy but then stops and looks for human companionship. Janet does love treats though and the minute that treat closet opens or someone is in the kitchen cooking she is right there! She also loves when laundry is being done because of the clothes piles she can snuggle in between, rearrange with her paws, and bury herself in. She likes having freedom as she strolls around her foster family’s fenced-in yard. Janet has been learning to walk on a leash but since walks are new to her 4 Lucky Dogs is requiring a fence as a place Janet will feel comfortable at the start of new permanent home. Her story is that she was an owner-surrender by a couple that was getting divorced. Janet grew up with her dog brother. She had a home then suddenly everything changed. Her mom and dad took both her brother and her to the shelter. The brother was adopted and went off to live with a new family. Janet was left by herself in a shelter where she became scared and did not eat due to not understanding what had happened. 4 Lucky Dogs rescued her from the shelter and brought her into a foster home. The foster family worked with Janet to want to eat again and to become trusting/comfortable again. She is now happy again and ready to be placed into a permanent home. She is a sweet dog that will be content in a quiet relaxed home. With Janet’s personality we suggest only older children or no children. Her adoption fee is $400. This dog comes microchipped, spayed, and up to date on shots and vaccines. You can apply for her at www.4luckydogs.org.
