Obie is a beautiful, 1 year old, 90 pound Bernedoodle. He is neutered, microchipped, up to date on vaccines, and heart worm negative. He has a very soft, non-shedding coat that will need some grooming. He was surrendered by a breeder in early April and had little experiences as a pet before coming into rescue. So every single thing is new to him. “Leash, never heard of it. Stairs, what are those? New people, are they nice?” He has lots to learn about living in the house and the great big world. And this can make him pretty nervous. He will need a patient and gentle family to help him gain confidence.
His foster parents are working with him on training and socializing and he is making progress every day. He’s eager to please and is very treat motivated. He is house trained and doesn’t chew or destroy any household items (other than dirty laundry, pick up those socks!) He is learning to play and really loves carrying around stuffed toys now. He is currently fostered with another large doodle and has frequent playdates with a small dog and gets along great with both of them. He also lives with a teenaged boy, but has not been introduced to any young children. A calm environment is best for him.
What I would say is the most fun about Obie is that he is such a sweet snuggler! Obie is a very affectionate dog who loves to be close and he enjoys petting and cuddling the most. I’m sure when he is a little more confident that world is meant to be a safe, fun place for a puppy, then he will love to play fetch and run around too. Obie is a very loving dog who has bonded quickly to his foster parents. With training and positive reinforcement, he will surely be a wonderful companion for many years to come!
perfect home for Obie would include a fenced backyard, another dog playmate and older, respectful children.
