Kona has a short story to tell..well, she is only a smidge over 8weeks old. She came to us with a pretty good case of worms- at only 6 lbs, she had some the size of her body. We were told that she was 9.5weeks old and was a shepherd/heeler (australian cattle dog) mix. Her markings told us that was a possibility, but her size for those breeds at 9.5weeks was certainly not. Over the past 3.5 weeks we summized she was only about 5weeks old when we took her in. She came from a puppy flipper, so it was no surprise. Puppy flippers look for free puppies on Craigs list and without vetting them, sell them to whoever will pay them. So, let's talk about Kona and her personality. You know the kid in class that stands out in the crowd for being the clown?..That's Kona! Always bright and full of energy. She loves her foster siblings- there are 3 bigger clowns in the house to keep her entertained. Along with the 3 dogs, there is a resident cat who isn't intimidated by the barking type. Kona wants to play with her, but cat is too busy napping to be bothered. Kona will bark at her, but respects her when she takes a swat. (resident cat has no front claws- not our doing- she was left to be an outside cat by a neighbor who owned her and didn't care that she couldn't defend herself-she is now a happy indoor kitty and SAFE). Kona still needs to learn proper house manners, has been crated-loves a playyard better, but loves to snuggle her humans. She is good about going outdoors to do her business, but still needs to be brought out frequently, as a reminder. Think she would love someone to teach her to fetch a frisbee or a ball. She loves to run around the house with tennis balls. Kona would do best with a family that has time for her and possibly another fur sibling to keep her entertained. Obviously, Kona is still very young, not yet altered and has a series of shots still coming. She is available for foster to adopt till all these steps are completed. The rescue pays for all of her vetting through alter and rabies.
