***We are a foster-based rescue with no shelter or facility to view our dogs, and our address is a mailing address only. Please be patient as we are an all-volunteer rescue, and our rescue dogs are in various loving foster homes throughout West-Central Florida. As a general rule we try to limit our adoptions to within the state of FL. If interested in one of our dogs, please fill out a foster or adopt application at www.4luckydogs.org, and we will contact you by phone/text if we feel your application is the best fit out of the ones received.*** Bambi is a 4-year-old (vet’s best estimate) 19-pound Corgi mixed with some Jack Russell Terrier (vet’s guess) She has a very happy relaxed temperament and is one of the sweetest dogs people say they have ever met. Words to describe her are cute, calm, chill, lovable, enthusiastic, and smart. She loves to be petted and loves to snuggle. She was found as a stray so came into 4 Lucky Dogs Rescue and we named her Bambi. The foster family can tell she lived in a house previously because of how well-behaved she is in their home and how quickly she adjusted to indoor comfort. Bambi talks with her tail (it wags all the time!) for example if someone is approaching, she says “hi” with a slow wag. Most of the time Bambi’s ears angle back but will raise up when someone looks at her. She then looks back at him/her with love in her eyes. Her passion is to be around people. If someone sits on a piece of furniture where Bambi will fit (like a sofa) she jumps up on it immediately. She then partially lays on the lap with her face staring up at him/her wagging her tail saying “I am here!”. Bambi gets so excited when someone comes home. Half of her body vigorously wiggles (tail, butt, back) for a solid three minutes. It is so fun and amusing to watch how thrilled she is with a human returning to the house. If you reach down to pet Bambi she will curl up and roll on her back wanting a belly rub wagging her tail the whole time. She is so appreciative of attention and wants more and more and more. She loves walks and car rides delighted to be out with a human seeing new scenery. During a walk she is very obedient simply walking ahead which makes it pleasant for her foster mom. In fact, Bambi rarely stops on the walk to go potties. She will do a smell here and there but otherwise is steadily walking. When she meets people on the walk, she greets them with friendly smell and of course her usually endless tail wagging. In her foster home that has numerous dog beds Bambi selected her favorite and lays in it all the time such as to sleep at night. It is ergonomic rectangular shape with memory foam that fits her body. Something about that bed makes her feel secure and she likes that it is placed in the middle of the house so she can keep an eye on everyone. Bambi is not used to being in a crate so the adopter cannot be someone who plans to crate her. She is perfectly fine alone in the house (Ring cameras at the foster home confirm this) so does not need or want a crate. Bambi is fully potty trained. When going outside to go to the bathroom she likes someone to be out there with her. Sometimes she will explore on her own, but she loves people so much that she does not want to spend any time away from them. There are occasions where she will just stay on the porch liking the fresh air smell. One thing about Bambi is she does not play - she is a just-be-near-you dog. The foster home has two boxes of toys, but Bambi does not have any interest in them. The other dog in the foster house will play with toys or run in the yard. She tries to get Bambi to participate but Bambi just contently watches her. We are mentioning this in the description so the adopter does not plan on having a dog that wants to play – instead Bambi likes to lay around. Bambi can be the only dog in the household which she would love to get all the attention from her people. Or she could be a companion for another dog that has a lower energy level. With her foster sister she will go on walks with her and lay near her in the same room, but then she wants to be independent going to her dog bed. But if a human is on a couch or bed Bambi will get as close as possible wanting to take over the other dog’s place. The average lifespan for this breed is 15 years. Therefore, Bambi’s adopter will need to be prepared to care for her for around 11 more years so she will not have to move to a different home again. Bambi’s adoption fee is $400. This dog comes microchipped, neutered, up to date on all necessary vaccines/rabies shots, is heartworm tested, and dewormed. She is currently being fostered in the Valrico/Plant City, FL area.
