***We are a foster-based rescue with no shelter or facility to view our dogs, and our address is a mailing address only. Please be patient as we are an all-volunteer rescue, and our rescue dogs are in various loving foster homes throughout West-Central Florida. As a general rule we try to limit our adoptions to within the state of FL. If interested in one of our dogs, please fill out a foster or adopt application at www.4luckydogs.org, and we will contact you by phone/text if we feel your application is the best fit out of the ones received.***

Mac is a 4-year-old 21-pound White Terrier Westie. Words to describe him are energetic, sweet, outgoing, loving, calm, and adaptable. He gets along with other dogs and is very social.

Mac loves people and wants to be in the middle of the action so walks around the foster house checking on who is doing what so he is in the “know”. But if he finds a person sitting in a chair he likes to lie on the floor next to them to be as close as possible.

Playing with toys especially a ball is a love of Mac’s. When the foster dad throws a ball, he runs to go get it and brings it back. Squeaky toys also rank high in Max’s choices of play possibilities. He likes playing on his own or with his dog foster sister. Max likes children but needs to live with older kids that understand his type of play and interaction. It would be great if Mac had someone to play with him a lot because the foster family found out if they initiate it, he will play.

Mac really enjoys being outside in the fenced-in yard at the foster family’s house. He loves running and exploring. His new permanent home needs a yard so he could enjoy the same activities.

He also likes walking on the leash. The foster mother discovered he walks steady and straight for at least 30 minutes so make the walk pleasurable. He is also a good car rider happy to be going somewhere. Mac knows where his harness and leash are in the house so when he sees it being taken off the hook, he gets excited. In fact, there have been a few times where the foster found Mac traying to take the leash down himself!

Mac likes to tell you what is on his mind! For example, “I want this” or “please pay attention to me” or “alert there is a sound”. He does so with little barks like talking. He will accept “no” if that is his what is he is told, but he will initially whine to ask the me-me-me question because sometimes the answer is yes. Sometimes his barking may be a little loud so we are recommending that he live in a single family home versus an apartment or townhouse that is connected to other housing.

He previously lived with another dog and because he is comfortable with that situation Mac could be adopted as a companion dog. Mac loves people so he will also be perfectly fine as an only dog in the household if he is getting all the owner’s attention.

He came into 4 Lucky Dogs Rescue because his elderly owner had a bad fall and could no longer care for her dogs.

The average lifespan for this breed of dog is 15 years. Therefore, Mac’s adopter will need to be prepared to care for him for around 11 more years so he will not have to move to a different home again.

Mac’s adoption fee is $400. This dog comes microchipped, neutered, up to date on all necessary vaccines/rabies shots, is heartworm tested, and dewormed. He is currently being fostered in the Plant City/Valrico area.
